May 6, Saturday
As screwed up as Thursday was, Saturday was smooth sailing. No problem with Lyft driver, was at the right Gate (even though it was a different gate than the one on our boarding pass). Both of us had a decent night's sleep and had repacked the night before more efficiently. the guest bedroom is perfect.
I ended up with a personal item (backpack) which easily fit in the Verification Bin at the gate and Bob's personal item and carry-on both fit in their respective bins.
We arrived at Charlotte airport 35 minutes early, but Maryann (Bob's sister) and Bob (her husband) were there for us in just a few minutes.
Charlotte Skyline
Our first stop was a farmer's market where we picked out all sorts of fresh fruits and vegetables. The drive from the airport in Charlotte, NC, over the SC border to their house in Fort Mill/Indian Land was beautiful. The streets were lined with magnificent mature trees of all species.
Their yard is a paradise, so after unpacking, we relaxed in the yard and later had dinner with Tricia (our niece) , Kelsey (Tricia and Ryan's daughter--our great niece), Tricia's husband Ryan, Ryan's parents Jill and Michael, Maryann, Bob and the two of US. Dinner was delicious, of course, since Maryann is a great cook and her husband, Bob, is a great GRILLER. Chicken kabobs, yummy and chocolate cake for dessert with whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries. Dinner was delicious and after the guests left, we hung around and talked to Bob and Maryann, since it had been awhile since we last saw them.
Both of us slept relatively better than we usually do at home, which is hard to believe, since both of us are terrible sleepers generally.
